CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: John "Hancock" McDonough
CANON: Fallout 4
AGE: Headcanonned at about 37; became a ghoul at 32.
CANON POINT: Shortly after he leaves Goodneighbor to travel with the Sole Survivor.
BACKGROUND: A brief run-down from the wiki.
This version of him runs under the assumption that the player chose to side with him at the end of the Big Dig, and that they completed the Silver Shroud quest before that. Otherwise, he won't have had a lot of interaction with the player character, and wouldn't be at a point yet where he could pick them out in a crowd.
INCENTIVE: Hancock's easy to buy, but anything related to fighting the prejudice against ghouls in the Commonwealth is right up his alley. Sure, he asked for drugs first, but he was mostly joking. As soon as equal rights come up, he's on board. It's something he's extremely passionate about, and hell, if cuddling people will magically make the Commonwealth a safer place, he'll give it a shot.
FIT: It's not hard for Hancock to fit into a place built around consent and physical contact; those are high up on his list of priorities in life. Granted, he comes from a world and lifestyle where he'll be unhappy without drugs and a gun, but a weapon permit and a regular trips to azru bars should tide him over. And anyway, it'll be good for him emotionally to spend some time in a place that's built the way he likes it; where tolerance is the norm and discrimination is dealt with capitally. It'll be a welcome change of pace.
CONSENT: Hancock's a sweetheart at his core; if anything he's likely to sweep in and break the arm of someone he catches breaking the rule of consent. Despite his swaggering exterior, he bases a lot of his worth on the opinions of others, and if they don't enjoy what he's doing he's likely to try his best to stop. He doesn't always treat people right, but he at least has the sense to stop immediately if he's given even a simple 'no'.
SAMPLES: Here's a thing. Although I don't feel like it's enough, so here goes:
Hancock had gotten too comfortable lately. It was a fact he'd at least admitted to himself now, but he couldn't say he'd done anything about it yet. The speech he'd given to his townspeople was fresh in his mind as he left the balcony, and it left something to be desired. It felt selfish, leaving to seek adventures when his town still needed him, but he figured it was just as selfish to stick around and try to change it until it was perfect.
It almost seemed like some unconscious wish brought that Eudio representative into his office. He motioned for Fahrenheit to leave the room, as if he knew what was coming. Honestly, he didn't have a damn clue. Just the sense that it was important she didn't get involved. He eyed up the representative; they clearly didn't look like they belonged in the Commonwealth, too clean and proper. He'd never been the type to trust clean and proper types.
"I'll bite..." He mumbled, after an awkward moment of eye contact, "What exactly are you here for?"
ANYTHING ELSE? Hancock is a ghoul; due to a self-prescribed treatment of radioactive hallucinogenics, he's ended up grotesquely mutated from his original human form. Most notably, he's missing his nose and hair, and his skin is scarred, ripped and tight on his bones in odd ways. On the other hand, he's effectively immortal and doesn't necessarily need food, as his body constantly regenerates itself to the point where he could even rip off his arm and re-attach it with no long-term effects. Oh, and exposure to radiation speeds up his healing even more. Pretty fair trade for looking like a burned hotdog.
As far as *ahem* physical intimacy, his body is still fully operational, and aside from a somewhat off-putting smell he's not much different from a regular human, when it gets down to daily living. Plus, he's extra-cuddly with people willing to look past his appearance. Not like he can be picky at this point.
